Working temporarily in the Netherlands as a foreigner

Are you coming to the Netherlands to live and work? Then it is important that you take out health insurance here. It is compulsory to have healthcare insurance, even if you are only coming to work in the Netherlands temporarily as a foreigner. As soon as you are registered with the municipality where you will be living, you will be able to take out healthcare insurance. The healthcare premium is automatically deducted from the salary and as an employer you have a permanent contact person with us.

You also have access to the employer portal, where you have insight into the policy administration of your employees. You can take out healthcare insurance for your employee, so that he or she does not have to arrange this himself or herself. Is your employee entitled to care allowance? Then you can apply for this if necessary.

Basic insurance and supplementary insurance

A basic health insurance is compulsory. This allows you to make use of the most necessary care. You can decide for yourself whether you want to take out supplementary insurance or not. Supplementary insurance will come in handy if you wish to be reimbursed for certain treatments that are not included in the basic healthcare package. Costs for the dentist will also be excluded from the basic package. Will you visit the dentist regularly? If so, taking out dental insurance is a wise choice.
